The role ensures alignment with business and regulatory objectives to keep a reliable flow of goods and services for critical projects and daily operations, serving as the central point of contact between the business and the purchasing function.
Key duties include shaping multi‑year sourcing approaches, establishing procurement performance standards, leading cross‑functional contract and pricing negotiations, and coordinating the purchasing team to meet annual sourcing goals. The director also drives innovation, represents the company in regulatory hearings and audits, and fosters strong relationships with local suppliers and community stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a forward‑thinking leader who proactively identifies improvement opportunities. Advanced knowledge of supply‑chain methodologies, strong interpersonal and influencing skills, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to senior management are essential.
Proven experience in category management, especially in utility‑related categories such as electric and gas construction, vegetation management, and engineering, is required. The role demands strategic orientation, analytical and project‑management expertise, decisive data‑driven decision‑making, and the capacity to manage multiple competing projects while maintaining high customer service standards.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience in the energy industry, a Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or Economics, and professional certifications such as CMP or C.P.S.M. Additional experience with global and regional planning, contract writing, and sourcing plan development is valued.
