Routing Specialist

Description

• Apply Freight costs per customer, including stone hauling rates, to orders accurately
• Serve as a backup for the Administrative Assistant and Traffic Operations Supervisor in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations.
• Oversee truck routing and scheduling
• Working with the Traffic Manager, review and renew contracts for next season with RFP, Brokers and Carriers
• Review and Manage KPI’s pertaining to freight, routing, etc.
• Brand Harmony – Develop, build, and support internal and external Brand Harmony creating the ultimate customer experience at every touchpoint
• Oversee Lakeshore Logistics RFP process and review contracts with carriers. Work with the Traffic Manager to do so.
• Conduct Carrier hauling performance reviews
• Optimize routes based on cart recoveries, milage and customer windows.
• Determine billable rates for third-party trucking services
• Verify the completion or complete load confirmations with carriers and brokers
• Perform daily truck building and routing using Pin Routes or equivalent
• Act as a liaison between sales, customers, dispatching dock personnel, carriers and brokers
• Assign carriers, haulers or internal drivers based on cost and availability
• Handle escalated service failures or disputes with carriers/haulers.
• Manage Freight Program: negotiate carrier contracts, set freight rates, and ensure costs are applied per customer (including stone hauling).
• Liase with other departments to align shipping with sales and operations
• Oversee the Traffic Administrative Assistant duties and position. Responsible for annual performance review.
• Accountability – Lead by example with the Winning with Accountability mind set (Clarity, Specificity, Ownership, Sharing). Hold all direct reports accountable for meeting expectations and timelines.
• Foster strong communication with other Willoway departments to ensure efficient transportation needs
• Work with software providers (Lakeshore, PinRoutes, etc.
• Safety –Foster a culture of safety at all levels of the company by continuously creating, improving, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Effective problem solving
• Strong interpersonal skills – ability to communicate well in both written and verbal form.
• Skilled at balancing and executing several competing priorities simultaneously.
• ERP handling and function
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Note that marijuana became legal in Ohio in 2016 for medical use. However, Willoway Nurseries, Inc. Drug Free Safety Policy does not recognize medical or recreational marijuana as acceptable in the workplace, regardless of whether the employee has a prescription or not. The presence of THC will still be considered a positive test result. This mirrors Federal law, which does not recognize marijuana as legal, as the laws are written and voted on at the State level.
