WELDER/FITTER

Description

• Mark reference points onto floor or face block and transpose them to workpiece using measuring devices, squares, chalk and soapstone
• Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers
• Clean all welds free from B.B.'s and slags
• Remove high spots and cuts bevels using hand files, portable grinders and cutting torch
• Obey and follow all safety rules and policies
• Inspect, examine and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods
• Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment according to specifications
• Check measurements to assure they match with drawings and obtain approval from quality control department
• Put all information on the pipe before cutting and transfer all item numbers onto cut sheet and carry over item numbers to drop pipe
• Create weld tickets daily
• Straighten warped or bent parts using sledge, hand torch, straightening press or bulldozer
• Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors
• Use certified procedures to weld pipe or structural materials as required
• Make every weld as if it was to be a 100% weld free from undercut over welding
• Wear all appropriate safety equipment (PPE)
• Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
• Examine blueprints and plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, weld shrinkage, machining and metal thickness
• Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, bolt straps or bolt parts in position for welding

Requirements

• Must be certified on PES welding procedures
• Read and understand blue prints and ISOs
• Tack weld fitted parts together
• For new hires, must successfully complete all required training by Performance Energy Services
• 1+ year of welding/fitting experience in an Industrial setting
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• For new hires, must meet all Performance Energy Services employment qualifications in force at time of hiring, including successful completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen
• High School diploma or equivalent education
• Must be reliable and have good time management skills
• Ability to perform basic level mathematical skills
