Senior Environmental Professional
Dillon Consulting Limited
Provides consulting services in engineering, environmental, planning, and project management.
Lead contaminated site assessment, remediation and business development in BC.
Work with client managers and business unit leads within Dillon’s business development and sales framework to identify, support and pursue contaminated assessment and remediation related opportunities.
Project management and coordination support to the local and national contaminated site teams including phased environmental site assessment and site remediation.
Technical research, industry event presentations and technology evaluations in support of contaminated site management and/or remediation.
Maintain relationships with existing clients and building relationships with new clients.
Provide technical and business mentorship to less experienced environmental professionals.
Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
Prepare and manage: health and safety plans for field projects, prepare project contracts and agreements, and complete sub-contractor selection. Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with: clients, regulators, service providers (e.g., laboratories, sub-contractor) and third-party stakeholders.
Responsible for local team engagement and integration with Dillon’s national team of over 120 environmental professionals practicing in environmental due diligence, site assessment, soil and groundwater remediation, spill response, hydrogeology, and hazardous materials assessments.
Oversight and technical review of written reports including: Phase I/II/III ESAs, conceptual site models, remedial options evaluations and remedial action plans etc.
Establish a reputation for contaminated sites expertise and specialized services, internally to Dillon, and externally to existing and new clients.
Develop winning proposals.
Development of remedial action plans and assistance in the design of site remediation options, including completion of feasibility studies of environmental remediation options and/or contaminant site management options.
Travel to other business locations and Dillon offices for the purposes of client relationship development, opportunity/project research and project delivery, as necessary.

Demonstrated capabilities in multidisciplinary teamwork as well as the ability to work independently.
Demonstrated success in the leadership of multidisciplinary project teams and business development.
A degree in engineering, geology, biology, ecology, hydrogeology or a related environmental science or engineering discipline.
In-depth knowledge of relevant territorial and federal environmental legislation and policies.
Experience in business development and sales in a client-facing role.
Strong background in: Phase I, II, & III ESAs, soil and groundwater sampling programs, surface water and sediment sampling programs, soil vapour sampling, contaminated site remediation, and health and safety. Additional background would be considered an asset for projects involving hazardous materials assessments, PFAS assessment, designated substance management, hazardous waste site auditing, risk assessment, hydrogeological investigations, geophysics, landfill management industrial air quality.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A minimum of 15 years’ experience in environmental consulting and/or related work experience.
A variety of EFAP tools and online resources to support well-being are available to all employees.
Ability to organize, prioritize and plan work to meet time-based deliverables and adapt to changing expectations.
Strong conceptual skills in evaluation of geological and hydrogeological systems.
Prepared to lead the technical development of local staff, with the support of Dillon’s training programs and broader team of environmental professionals.
Strong proficiency in proposal and report writing, presentations, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Understand environmental regulations related to contaminated sites work in British Columbia and other jurisdictions (e.g., Federal Lands, adjacent provinces or territories).
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
