The Team Lead (1st Shift) is responsible for motivating, leading, and counseling team members while being knowledgeable about all department functions. This role makes decisions on scheduling, work priorities, and material availability, addresses employee concerns, applies rational systems to solve problems, and interprets diverse written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule instructions.
Key duties include assigning work, monitoring workflow to meet schedule requirements, performing product inspections, managing inventory and communicating shortages, and completing all manufacturing paperwork. The leader must work hands‑on, interact professionally with customers, maintain a safe and clean environment, and demonstrate strong interpersonal communication and attendance.
Minimum qualifications are a High School diploma or equivalent and one year of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting, along with demonstrated ability to perform department tasks. Preferred qualifications include computer literacy with Microsoft Excel and Word and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles such as value streams, 5S, and waste reduction.
Physical requirements involve close, peripheral, and depth vision, sound perception, balance, and finger dexterity. The role demands standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting at least 35 lb (heavier loads require two‑person or mechanical assistance). Employees must wear PPE and work in indoor and outdoor environments with temperature extremes, vibration, and loud noise.
