The position involves delivering high‑quality responsive repairs and maintenance across multiple trades in occupied social‑housing properties, ensuring homes are safe, functional and well‑cared for. You will work on carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and other tasks, adapting daily to varied requests while providing excellent customer service.
You will work independently, manage your daily workload to meet service targets, participate in an out‑of‑hours emergency rota, and record work details using handheld devices. Maintaining tools, equipment and the company vehicle in good condition is required.
- Perform day‑to‑day responsive repairs in Aids and Adaptation social housing, including bathroom installations, plumbing fixes, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating.
- Replace or repair bathroom units and adjust installations for level‑access showers.
- Identify and resolve minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps and blocked sinks.
- Carry out patch plastering and make good damaged walls or ceilings.
- Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing.
- Ensure work is safe, efficient, and meets a high standard while respecting residents’ privacy.
- Join the out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota as required.
- Record job details, materials used and completion notes via handheld devices or job sheets.
- Maintain tools, equipment and the company vehicle in good working order.
- Meet service level targets by managing daily workload effectively.

- Proven experience in domestic repairs across multiple trades (plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating).
- Full UK driving licence and ability to drive a company vehicle (over 21, licence held >3 months, <9 points).
- Strong fault‑finding, problem‑solving and independent work skills.
- Excellent customer service experience in occupied homes.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Ability to use handheld job management systems.
Benefits
Annual salary for the full‑time permanent Multi‑Skilled Operative role in Rotherham is up to £39,237.78 per annum (or £33,084.69 for an optional 37‑hour week), with a 42.5‑hour work week (8 am‑5 pm, Monday‑Friday) and includes a company van and fuel card.
