Key responsibilities include inspecting and repairing turbines, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, and similar equipment; aligning and balancing rotating machinery; and operating lathes, milling machines, shapers, drill presses, and other tools to achieve close tolerances. The role also assists other maintenance and modification crews, performs emergency response duties, and may support decontamination, housekeeping, painting, calibration, and tool‑room tasks while providing training and oversight to other personnel.
The position pays $42.02 per hour and involves skilled mechanical work in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation, and removal of nuclear power‑plant equipment.
Candidates must have successfully completed an accredited mechanical training program and possess at least two years of mechanical experience in trades, manufacturing, Navy nuclear, or an INPO‑accredited program. Additional requirements include passing a validated aptitude test, meeting NRC psychological testing regulations, completing plant access and radiation‑safety training (including respirator qualifications), and maintaining the physical ability to perform essential job functions. Certification and recertification may be required by the NRC or industry standards.
