The mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy‑duty assets, including trucks, trailers, forklifts, backhoes, skidders, and dump trucks. Work includes servicing diesel engines, transmissions, brake and electrical systems, as well as steering and cooling components, while maintaining accurate records of all activities.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy‑duty equipment and vehicles.
- Service diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, steering, and cooling systems.
- Record all maintenance activities via phone, email, text, and paperwork.
- Perform routine tasks such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication.
- Repair or replace faulty mechanical and electrical components.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.
- Diagnose faults with engine diagnostic and computerized test equipment.
- Test repaired equipment to verify performance meets manufacturer specs.
- Fit bearings and overhaul mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Assemble gear systems and align frames and gears.
- Weld or solder broken parts and structural members with electric or gas welders.
- Fabricate parts from sheet metal or other materials.
- Maintain a comprehensive tool set; company provides specialty tools.
- Work in extreme outdoor environments (heat, cold, wet weather).
- Perform physically demanding positions (stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting) for 8‑12‑hour days.
- Lift, pull, and push materials and equipment as required.
- Safely lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Keep a clean, professional appearance on‑site and while traveling.
- Maintain daily upkeep of the work area and company equipment.
- Be flexible with work hours and provide overtime when needed.
- Complete and turn in all required paperwork each day.
