BAU Outside Plant Engineer

Description

• Meet with township, city, county, and state officials to discuss road and utility projects (travel reimbursed).
• Locate and identify Frontier facilities and evaluate project impacts with managers and municipal engineers.
• Collaborate with other utilities to develop relocation plans that minimize conflicts and delays.
• Execute field and design OSP work orders, including service orders, subdivisions, road moves, dark fiber MDU, and copper/fiber aerial, buried, and underground installations.
• Update design and project systems such as FROGS, CAD, Varasset, and SiteTracker.
• Coordinate make‑ready work, pole replacements, and service requests with power companies and communication providers.
• Prepare and submit permits to local, state, and federal agencies (DOT, DNR, railroad, pipeline, etc.).
• Partner with SSP contractors to ensure timely and cost‑effective construction.
• Address plant damage repair requests, including cable count adjustments and capital projects.
• Conduct site surveys and design capital projects for cell towers.
• Support field and central office technicians by investigating and resolving PUC complaints.
• Work closely with contract engineers to align projects with business and client needs.

Requirements

Your Impact: Pearce is seeking a highly skilled OSP Engineer to support copper and fiber outside plant facility engineering projects. This role is responsible for estimating, analyzing, designing, and planning OSP projects while tracking budgets and ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. The OSP Engineer will also coordinate with municipal agencies, contractors, and utilities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a dynamic role that requires strong field and design experience, organizational skills, and the ability to balance technical work with permitting, reporting, and cross‑team collaboration.

Candidates must reside within one hour of specified cities in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio, including Ashland, KY; Huntington, WV; Point Pleasant, WV; Mason, WV; Gallipolis, OH; Waverly, OH; Chillicothe, OH; Circleville, OH; Lancaster, OH; Logan, OH; Athens, OH; and several other locations across the region.

• 3–5+ years in copper and fiber‑optic telecommunications engineering, including broadband design and OSP construction.
• 5+ years in network engineering or related field with expertise in fiber record management, cable counts, and permitting.
• Proficient in FROGS, CAD updates, and OSP telecom construction tools.
• Experienced with Frontier mapping, design tools, and permitting systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with municipal officials, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel for project meetings, inspections, and surveys.

Pearce follows fair and transparent pay practices. Base pay ranges from $37‑$38 USD, with potential performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, stipends, a company vehicle, per diem, and other compensation. Final salary depends on skill set, experience, and location.
