Senior Electrical Engineer 1 - Oil & Gas

Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer role at Sargent & Lundy is situated within a collaborative project team, focusing on the design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for oil and gas facilities and supporting power plant and industrial projects.

In this position you will help ensure that system designs comply with specifications, codes, and client expectations while meeting project schedule and budget goals.

• Perform detailed electrical calculations such as three‑phase transient studies, voltage drop, and protective relay settings.
• Prepare and review design input documentation for drawing production.
• Coordinate system design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Interface with vendors to develop material and equipment purchase specifications.
• Produce technical reports and studies that meet client and S&L format standards.
• Conduct independent reviews of calculations and drawings prepared by other engineers.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Support the project lead in budgeting, scheduling, and successful project delivery.
• Work on a hybrid schedule requiring three days per week on-site.

Requirements

Candidates are required to hold an accredited engineering degree and possess substantial experience in power and industrial electrical design, with strong knowledge of system integration and equipment selection.

• Require 7+ years of power plant or industrial plant electrical design experience in the oil and gas sector.
• Hold a BSEE from an ABET‑accredited program; MSEE preferred and PE license valued.
