Fire Consultants / Fire Risk Assessors (FRA) – Coverage South West (Bristol/Bath to Truro). The role is a sub‑contract position delivering fire risk assessment reports and acting as the primary contact for customers during site visits, influencing their perception of the company positively.
The consultant will conduct fire risk assessments, provide verbal recommendations on site and document findings in a formal report. They must ensure high‑quality work, timely delivery, and maintain professional relationships with internal staff.
Responsibilities include demonstrating industry‑leading fire safety knowledge, producing accurate paperwork, collaborating with the admin team, using best‑practice methods for assessments, taking full responsibility for service quality, and staying current with fire legislation.
Person specification requires full knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, relevant British Standards, strong communication skills, ability to build long‑term relationships, excellent computer proficiency, and experience assessing commercial, industrial and domestic buildings (two redacted FRA reports will be requested).
Essential requirements are proven experience completing fire risk assessments, accreditation at Member level with the Institute of Fire Engineers or Institute of Fire Safety Managers (or IFSM/IFE competent risk assessor register), high literacy and written and verbal communication skills, ability to plan and organise workloads, and a full UK driving licence.
Desirable qualifications include additional recognized fire safety management certifications from providers such as the Fire Protection Association, Fire Industry Association, NEBOSH Fire, or Ind1.
