The Residential Service/Maintenance Technician role is located in Rockford, IL. This position focuses on independently maintaining and improving residential heating and air‑conditioning systems, ensuring comfortable and safe environments for customers while advancing the technician’s career in a supportive team.

Technicians are expected to perform all Level 1 duties, arrive on time at dispatched sites, operate company vehicles safely, and report arrivals, departures, and any equipment issues. Responsibilities also involve conducting filter changes, coil cleaning, basic generator maintenance, collecting cash‑on‑delivery payments, and informing customers about maintenance agreements and additional services.

• Perform all Level 1 technician tasks, including scheduled site arrivals and dispatch reporting.
• Operate company vehicles safely and obey all traffic laws.
• Conduct filter replacements, coil cleaning, and basic generator maintenance.
• Collect cash‑on‑delivery payments and educate customers on maintenance agreements and add‑on services.
• Report tool, vehicle, or equipment problems promptly to expedite parts delivery.
• Develop basic skills in electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, wiring diagrams, and soldering.
• Attend required training and complete 20 hours of continuing education annually.
• Work safely in extreme weather, confined spaces, and lift equipment up to 100 lb using ladders and hand tools.

Requirements

Candidates must clear drug and background checks, hold a valid driver’s license that can be insured through the company, and communicate effectively in English. Preferred qualifications include completion of an HVAC training program, EPA certification (or obtaining it within three months), and at least six months of HVAC service experience.

The role emphasizes continuous learning, professional development, and strong customer focus. Employees are required to attend training, complete 20 hours of continuing education each year, and develop basic knowledge of electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, wiring diagrams, and soldering techniques.

Work takes place in diverse outdoor conditions—heat, cold, wind, rain, insects, and confined spaces—requiring physical tasks such as lifting up to 100 lb, climbing ladders, and using hand tools. Safety awareness and adherence to quality standards are essential.
