The Production Planner is responsible for distribution planning and inventory of finished goods in accordance with company and corporate policies and government regulations, supporting the business units within Reliance Worldwide.
The role involves adjusting production schedules, analyzing exception reports, maintaining finished goods availability, translating forecasts into production targets, ensuring alignment with demand, updating planning spreadsheets, collaborating with senior staff, coordinating with production leads, and communicating with buyers to secure necessary components.
- Adjust production schedules daily and weekly based on customer demand, priorities, and input from Marketing and Sales.
- Analyze weekly exception reports and release production work orders.
- Maintain finished goods availability and optimal stock levels.
- Translate monthly forecasts into production targets per the S&OP process.
- Ensure production plans align with forecasted demand.
- Update daily and monthly planning spreadsheets.
- Collaborate with Master Production Scheduler and Director of Purchasing & Production Planning to set goals and monitor key performance measures.
- Coordinate with production leads to ensure schedule adherence across plants.
- Communicate with buyers to secure inventory of key components and raw materials.
- Analyze production data, identify trends, and optimize scheduling processes.

Candidates should have 3‑5 years of progressive manufacturing experience or an associate’s/bachelor’s degree, with at least five years in production scheduling or demand/supply planning, preferably in multi‑plant operations. Required skills include ERP knowledge (SAP preferred), advanced Excel proficiency, strong analytical and communication abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently and make timely decisions.
The position is based in a manufacturing environment in Cullman, AL, requiring both sitting and standing, and demands good vision, hearing, speech, and motor skills to perform essential functions.
- 3‑5 years progressive manufacturing experience or associate’s/bachelor’s degree; minimum 5 years in production scheduling or demand/supply planning.
- Experience scheduling production in complex multi‑plant operations.
- Working knowledge of ERP production and distribution practices; SAP experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills for cross‑department collaboration.
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate production schedules aligned with business objectives.
- Work efficiently and independently, making accurate and timely decisions.
- Job requires sitting and standing with good vision, hearing, speech, and motor skills.
