The UAS Pilot / Data Analyst – Civil Services plays a key role in bringing civil engineering, surveying, and construction projects to life through cutting‑edge drone technology. This position blends hands‑on UAS field operations with technical data analysis, collecting high‑quality aerial data and turning it into accurate maps, models, and reports for terrain modeling, volume calculations, and surface analysis. The role is responsible for conducting and quality‑checking all aerial drone flights, ensuring data accuracy from take‑off to final deliverable, and supports business growth through strong customer service and collaboration across project teams.
The pilot will coordinate with project and group managers and customers to schedule flight data collection, plan, execute, and document UAS missions for construction and excavation sites, and ensure compliance with FAA Part 107 and all safety, environmental, and operational regulations. Pre‑flight planning includes airspace reviews and risk assessments, while consistent QA/QC procedures are applied to flight documentation and analysis outputs. Processed data are used to create orthomosaics, digital terrain models, and 3D site maps that assist engineers with cut‑and‑fill volume calculations and integrate with survey control points, GPS datasets, and civil design files.
Work is performed outdoors in varied weather and may require walking, standing, driving, and lifting up to 50 lb while navigating challenging terrain. Employees must communicate effectively, read and write reports, and use hands to operate tools and controls.
Candidates need at least five years of FAA‑approved drone operations and survey data‑processing experience, a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred experience includes excavation, earthworks, or civil site design, and proficiency with drone mapping software, GIS, CAD, 3D modeling, LiDAR, and photogrammetry workflows. The role requires a self‑starter who can work independently with high integrity and strong data‑visualization and reporting skills.
