The role focuses on leading research, development and commercialization of high‑performance coatings that meet rigorous industrial and OEM specifications for oil‑and‑gas pipelines, coil lines and other partners, delivering superior corrosion protection, durability and regulatory compliance.
The scientist will collaborate with process engineering, production, product management, sales and procurement, while mentoring junior scientists and driving cross‑functional project execution, risk management and documentation.
- Lead end‑to‑end formulation development and manage Stage‑Gate projects from concept through commercialization.
- Design and analyze DOE studies using statistical methods to optimize resin, pigment, and additive systems.
- Prepare and apply coating panels via drawdown, spray, and coil‑line simulation for performance evaluation.
- Develop and execute test plans aligned with ASTM, ISO, API, and NACE/AMPP standards, covering adhesion, flexibility, impact, hardness, abrasion, corrosion, weathering, and chemical resistance.
- Document results, write technical reports, and create specification sheets for internal and customer use.
- Partner with Process Engineering and Production to scale formulations, run pilot batches, and establish QC/QA methods.
- Lead technical discussions with customers and OEMs, support on‑site trials, and troubleshoot application issues.
- Evaluate alternative raw materials for performance, cost and sustainability considerations.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product Management, Sales, Procurement and mentor junior scientists.
- Maintain project plans, risk registers and milestone reporting throughout development cycles.
- Develop application guides, safety materials and training content for end users.
- Contribute to IP strategy through literature reviews, competitive benchmarking and patent drafting.
- Support flexible work policies to promote work‑life balance.
