Quantity Surveyor

Description

Working for a Tier 1 contractor delivering Rail schemes across the Home Counties region.

The successful Quantity Surveyor will join an established commercial project team and will not be expected to operate at Senior Quantity Surveyor level. The role is structured to provide strong support and development, with guidance from a Senior Quantity Surveyor who manages the running of the project and subcontractor packages. The Quantity Surveyor will also receive oversight and mentoring from a Managing Quantity Surveyor responsible for reporting, cost control, and forecasting across multiple projects, ensuring clear direction, support, and long term career progression.

• Assist with the review and processing of subcontractor payments and contract amendments.
• Assist with the management of subcontractor packages, including valuations, variations, and change control in line with the contract.
• Act as a point of contact for day to day commercial matters between the site team, subcontractors, and the wider commercial team, escalating where required.
• Contribute to the preparation of cost reports and cash flow forecasts for internal reporting and client submissions.
• Support the commercial delivery of multiple rail infrastructure work packages across projects valued between £1m and £15m, under the guidance of Senior Quantity Surveyors.
• Support contract administration activities to ensure commercial processes are followed and payment milestones are achieved.

Requirements

You must be living and eligible to work in the UK to apply for this position.

Rail Experience is not needed for this however, this role requires the quantity surveyor to have civil project NEC contract experience.

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, ideally, or similar qualification.
• Full clean driving licence
• Previously involved in civil engineering projects valued between £1m and £20m, with experience supporting commercial activities across multiple work packages would be ideal.
• Experience supporting commercial activities on civil engineering projects delivered under NEC contract
• Experience on site in a Quantity Surveying role,

Benefits

Salary: - £50,000 - £55,000 basic + Car or Allowance + 15% Bonus + Package

Working on a hybrid basis you will be working on site 3 days a week, then 2 days from home for admin and MS Teams meetings.

Hybrid working 3 days on site and 2 days working from home.
