Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to customers and is responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration, and emergency response. The Gas Transmission Project Management Department manages a portfolio of expense and capital projects for the Gas Transmission Portfolio, overseeing execution from start to finish.
Gas Workstream Program leaders oversee one or more groups of projects essential for the maintenance and operation of gas facilities. They lead teams of project managers and matrixed support staff, managing work from inception through completion while meeting cost, scope, and schedule requirements, and promote a safety culture that aligns with company and regulatory policies.
- Supervise a team of 6–8 employees, primarily project managers.
- Communicate issues up the management chain as needed.
- Ensure daily activities follow PG&E guidelines and procedures.
- Implement policies, procedures, and best project management practices to deliver projects on scope, on time, and within budget.
- Maintain safe work practices and emphasize safety within the team.
- Present project updates to PG&E leaders, including officers.
- Manage the workstream portfolio, assigning projects and initiatives to meet schedule and budget goals.
- Provide staffing, training, coaching, and mentoring to project managers and team members; oversee planning, overtime authorization, and cost control.
- Lead team development through goal setting, performance evaluations, development planning, feedback, and conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with Facilities Integrity Management, Engineering, Land & Environmental, Enterprise Project Management, Construction & Maintenance, Gas Planning, Operations, Scheduling, Project Controls, Finance, and other stakeholders to achieve objectives.
- Work with the Workstream Manager and Specialist to define annual scope, objectives, and performance measurements.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of gas or related industry experience.
- Experience managing and coordinating cross‑discipline teams.
- Experience managing expense or capital programs of significant size and scope (desired).
- Field experience with maintenance, construction, and engineering of gas systems (desired).
- Up to 10 years of gas or related industry experience (desired).
- PMI‑PMP certification (desired).
Benefits
This position is eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. PG&E provides a salary range based on locality, with actual compensation determined by factors such as skills, education, certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
The salary range for the Bay Area is $128,000 to $218,000, and for California overall is $122,000 to $207,000.
