The Service Manager will lead and develop a team of technicians, dispatch, and support staff, set clear expectations, and foster a positive, accountable service culture. They will oversee day‑to‑day HVAC service operations—including maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and retrofits—while ensuring safety, efficiency, code compliance, and customer satisfaction. Technical responsibilities include serving as the HVAC resource, preparing and approving estimates, and managing larger projects, startups, and commissioning. Financial duties cover monitoring performance, labor utilization, profitability, payroll, service orders, and billing, as well as tracking work orders and expenses through internal systems. The role also acts as the senior point of contact for customers and coordinates with vendors to support overall company goals.
The company is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Manager to lead commercial HVAC service operations in the Benicia / San Francisco Bay Area. This non‑union leadership role oversees technicians, service operations, and customer relationships while ensuring safe, profitable, and high‑quality delivery of maintenance, repair, and retrofit work. The ideal candidate blends deep technical HVAC expertise with a people‑focused leadership style that emphasizes accountability, trust, and collaborative communication.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least seven years of commercial HVAC experience with a strong service background, and three years of leadership experience such as service manager, supervisor, lead technician, or service‑focused project manager. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to estimate, review, and approve HVAC service and retrofit work, possess strong knowledge of HVAC systems and preventive maintenance, and be comfortable using service management, dispatch, payroll, and expense tools. A valid driver’s license with a clean record is required. Preferred qualifications include ten-plus years of progressive HVAC experience, experience managing non‑union teams, exposure to budgeting or P&L responsibility, and a background in mechanical contracting or retrofit‑focused operations. Strong communication, conflict‑management, organizational, and technical credibility are essential.
The position offers a salary range of $155,000 – $170,000, adjusted for education, experience, skills, location, and market data, with eligibility for company incentives or bonus programs.
