Key responsibilities include consulting‑level work for nuclear power uprates, preparing and reviewing calculations for heat balances, power‑train pumps, heat exchangers, condensers, and plant hazards, and producing clear technical task reports and equipment evaluations. The engineer will size, optimize, and select equipment to meet client needs, develop proposals and cost estimates, and mentor junior staff. Independent reviews of calculations and drawings, client meetings, and site walkdowns are also required.
The position requires a BSME from an ABET‑accredited program, a strong academic background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics, and at least ten years of experience in the nuclear power industry, preferably with uprates or turbine retrofits. Essential knowledge includes balance‑of‑plant evaluations, pinch‑point assessments, heat‑balance analysis, power‑train pumps, heat exchangers, condensers, circulating water, and ultimate heat sinks. Candidates must possess excellent technical report writing, numerical computation, problem‑solving skills, and familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, as well as proficiency with MS Office and strong communication abilities.
