Land Development Manager

Description

The Land Development Manager at David Weekley Homes will oversee and manage all aspects of land development for residential projects in Minneapolis, MN. This full-time, on-site role involves working closely with internal teams, city planners, engineers, and contractors. Responsibilities include project planning, budgeting, and scheduling, as well as ensuring compliance with local regulations and company standards. You will coordinate with consultants, manage vendor relationships, and ensure that developments are completed efficiently and aligned with our quality standards.

• Perform budget review of potential land purchases, work with Land Financial Analyst to prepare various project proformas to assess potential financial outcomes under various acquisition and development scenarios
• Participate in due diligence review, underwriting, and approvals for proposed new land acquisitions
• Support Land Acquisition Manager with strategic thinking, land planning ideas, pre-planning, and development cost info during the conceptual and planning phases of communities; manage and oversee the lot delivery of active projects.
• Oversee the efforts of fee developers and Joint Venture partners for outside-developed projects
• Produce proforma and budget projections for deals under consideration; maintain these projections on a quarterly basis throughout the life of the project
• Manage and oversee the efforts of outside parties (engineers, planners, contractors, City representatives, joint venture partners) as needed to accomplish the two above objectives
• Review and approve all development-related invoices on a monthly basis
• Manage the development of residential lots in new communities
• Work interactively with VP of Land and Land Acquisition Managers to assess the feasibility of potential land purchases
• Manage and oversee the development of active projects from acquisition to lot delivery

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, real estate or a related field is preferred
• 5+ years relevant experience in the Minneapolis area (Familiar with home building industry would be a plus)
• Strong Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and CAD skills
• Experience in civil engineering (PE registration is a plus)
• Ability to read and understand Civil and Architectural drawings
• Comfortable with financial proformas and spreadsheets
