Dewberry is looking for qualified Electrical Engineers to join its Disaster Recovery Specialists team, providing on‑call expertise for FEMA and other government disaster recovery initiatives across the United States and its territories.
Candidates must have an electrical engineering degree and relevant professional experience with public infrastructure, as well as knowledge of construction practices and applicable codes.
Effective communication, computer literacy, a valid driver’s license, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to operate under demanding conditions are essential.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or related field) from an accredited university.
- Have a minimum of two years full‑time professional experience with public infrastructure projects.
- Know modern construction practices, facility assessments, and be proficient with IBC, ADA, and other regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and in a team under stressful conditions, up to 12‑hour days, seven days a week for up to 12 months.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, U.S. citizenship, and pass a federal background investigation for Public Trust clearance.
- Preferred: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) designation.
- Preferred: Five years of electrical engineering experience, including familiarity with FEMA PA program law, regulations, and policy.
- Preferred: Prior FEMA PA roles such as Program Delivery Manager, Site Inspector, Policy Advisor, Cost Estimator, or Hazard Mitigation Specialist.
- Preferred: Experience with FEMA’s Grants Manager or Grants Portal.
- Preferred: Proficiency with cost‑estimating software such as RS Means or Xactimate.
- Preferred: Experience in residential site development, including roads, utilities, and drainage.
