  • Provide honest, prompt, and constructive feedback to personnel.
  • Support other service lines that have existing client relationships and leverage those relationships in search of growth opportunities.
  • Ensure a close relationship with the business development and marketing resources in the infrastructure vertical, to ensure opportunities and pursuits include (where appropriate) the best mix of teaming partners.
  • Attend major conferences and present as a thought leader as appropriate.
  • Overall responsibility for the identification and capture of water resources and water utility projects.
  • Mentor engineering personnel in their technical and management competencies to help them achieve their career objectives
  • Work closely with the Water Project Management staff for client engagement and development strategy, planning for resources on new opportunities, and creating a cohesive teaming environment for winning and delivering water & wastewater projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring marketing and messaging aligns with campaigns and pursuits.
  • Develop, maintain, and grow client relationships for the purpose of acting as a client advocate, educator, and technical expert with the goal of executing services and product contracts.
  • Identify potential business development opportunities that are professionally challenging; bring recognition to Michael Baker on a local, regional, and national basis.

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive responsibility in business development and/or client relations, of which at least 5 years was spent leading and growing project teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and partners.
  • Experience with influential leadership of diverse and remote teams preferred.
  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to identify and pursue new opportunities.
  • Proven track record and ability to develop new client relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and building successful partnerships.
  • Experience working in and managing a diverse staff in a hybrid workplace setting.
  • Strong problem-solving and verbal / written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and conduct multi-tasking efforts
  • Experience with employee management, business development, writing proposals, Contract Negotiation, planning, design, and construction support services.
  • Knowledge of local, regional, and national civil engineering initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or related discipline required.
