CAD/CAM Engineer

Description

As a CAD/CAM Engineer, you will transform design concepts into production‑ready solutions, establish CAD standards, maintain component libraries, and drive automation and operational excellence across the cabinetry manufacturing process.

• Develop and maintain CAD templates, parametric models, and component libraries for cabinetry manufacturing.
• Translate design concepts into production‑ready specifications compatible with manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with design teams to validate feasibility and optimize manufacturability.
• Optimize CAM integration, including tooling selection and workflow planning.
• Troubleshoot production challenges with shop‑floor teams and improve workflows.
• Manage order‑entry processes for standard and custom cabinetry in CAD systems.
• Partner with planning and purchasing to assign correct materials and components to CAD models.
• Create custom engineering solutions for non‑standard or complex cabinetry.
• Automate office engineering workflows to reduce manual tasks.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
• Work with external software and machinery vendors to improve processes.

Requirements

• Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Woodworking Technology, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years CAD experience in manufacturing (cabinetry, millwork, office furniture, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of woodworking processes, materials and hardware.
• Proficiency with imos iX (Homag iX), Microvellum or similar CAD/CAM software.
• Experience with parametric design and CAD automation techniques.
• Familiarity with CNC programming and automated production systems.
• Excellent problem‑solving and collaboration skills.
• Experience in roboticized or automated manufacturing environments.
• Exposure to ERP/MRP systems for production and procurement planning.
• Experience with optimization software such as CutRite or Ardis.
• Familiarity with SQL databases, API integrations, XML and JSON file formats.

Benefits

The expected base salary ranges from $70,000 to $110,000, with eligibility for Mattamy’s annual bonus program based on business and individual goals. SAMI encourages applicants who meet most of the requirements to apply, even if they do not meet every criterion.
