As a Construction Engineer – Structures, you’ll be at the heart of an exciting new West Apron Vehicle Underpass project at Dublin Airport. The role involves planning, coordinating and delivering structural works on a major infrastructure construction project, reporting to the Site Agent – Structures and ensuring all activities are executed safely, to drawings, specifications, programme requirements and airport operational constraints.
- Set out and oversee construction of structural elements (reinforced concrete, foundations, steelwork, etc.)
- Ensure works comply with contract drawings, specifications and technical standards
- Provide engineering support to site teams and subcontractors
- Resolve technical issues in coordination with design and commercial teams
- Implement and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for structural works
- Conduct site inspections, checks and surveys; maintain accurate as‑built records
- Manage non‑conformances and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with HSEQ, site safety rules and airport regulations; promote safe work systems
- Support safety audits, toolbox talks and site briefings; maintain good housekeeping
- Assist Site Agent in managing the programme of structural works
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and plant to meet programme targets
- Liaise with other disciplines (civils, M&E, architectural) for integrated delivery
- Identify constraints and support mitigation measures
- Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries, progress records and technical queries
- Prepare and close out RFIs, technical submittals and as‑built documentation
- Provide regular progress updates to Site Agent – Structures
- Support handover documentation and project close‑out activities

- Proven construction engineering experience focused on structures
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and steel structures
- Experience on large infrastructure or complex construction projects
- Understanding of structural engineering principles and construction sequencing
- Ability to read, interpret and implement structural drawings and specifications
- Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Effective communication with site teams, subcontractors and management
- Ability to work in a live aviation environment with strict operational constraints
- Experience on airport, aviation or high‑security live environments
- Familiarity with Irish and UK standards (Eurocodes, IS EN)
- Relevant Safe Pass and airport security clearances (or ability to obtain)
- Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng / CEng MIEI) status
