The Utility Inspector is responsible for managing and performing daily construction management and inspection services for various types of utility projects and must have significant experience in utility construction, must be proficient at reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and shop drawings as well as overseeing construction document controls and enforcing contract compliance. Immediate openings in our Fairfax office.
The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements. Work may also be performed in noisy conditions or confined/enclosed spaces.

We are currently seeking qualified Senior Construction Inspectors for water-sewer utility construction projects in the Northern Virginia area. We are constantly winning new contracts and are looking for new employees to staff these projects.
- Must have writing and drawing skills necessary to complete inspection reports and documentation
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) are required
- Experience tracking daily quantities, completing daily inspection reports, reviewing payment requisitions and maintaining field sketchbooks and as-built drawings
- High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate required
- Must be able to function safely in an environment with potential risks, including, but not limited to those described in this document.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification required
- Erosion and Sediment Control certifications (i.e. DEQ Inspector’s Certification) and ATSSA Intermediate/TCS Work Zone Certification desirable
- Must have good communication skills
- Driving to and from project sites which may involve distances of up to or exceeding 120 miles round trip.
- Work from heights exceeding 6 feet
- Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must have the ability to read/interpret plans and specifications
- Applicants must have demonstrated inspection experience with water and sewer underground utility construction and related utility rehabilitation projects requiring monitoring a contractor’s work for conformance to the design plans, specifications and general permit requirements
- Minimum of 6 to 10 years of specific field construction inspection experience in the specified areas listed below
- Must be willing to work nights and overtime, when required by the project assignment
- Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Experience in coordinating inspection duties with multiple simultaneously operating crews
- Remaining in a stationary position—either standing or sitting—for extended periods of time
- Must be able to wear a properly fitted safety harness and be knowledgeable of the correct use and of regular inspection of the harness and components
- VDOT materials certifications desirable including Asphalt, Concrete, and Soils & Aggregate desirable
- Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces
