Senior Landscape Architect

Description

• Undertaking a technical advisory landscape architecture role which includes reviewing contractor design proposals against client and planning requirements is preferable.
• Authoring Landscape and Visual Impact appraisals and assessments.
• Working with construction project teams to deliver best practice in terms of protecting and enhancing the landscape and supporting them with specific queries - translating technical requirements into layperson language to ensure all stakeholders understand their roles and responsibilities.
• Working as a Landscape Architect on building projects, masterplans and city centre public realm regeneration projects.
• Working with our external partners/sub-consultants which will include commissioning additional landscape services, prepare technical scopes and develop strong working relationships with them.
• Developing a strong working relationship with our internal architecture and urban design teams.
• Author landscape and visual impact assessments.
• Preparation of landscape strategies/plans/drawings and planting strategies.
• Undertaking urban greening factor (UGF) calculations.
• Landscape architect technical advisor role which includes reviewing consultant and contractor design proposals against client and planning requirements.
• Building the nature-based solutions team including hiring junior landscape architects, mentoring through chartership as required.
• Work-winning through bids, solutioning, client liaison and raising Mace’s profile externally. This will include developing Mace’s nature-based solutions service offer.
• Liaison with various stakeholders including developers, local authorities, landowners, NGOs.
• Supporting ecologists with biodiversity net gain (BNG) delivery.
• Developing green infrastructure strategies.
• Managing junior team members where necessary.
• Leading the landscape design and assessment for our key clients in addition to a range of masterplan and public realm projects, through all LI/RIBA stages.
• Participating in workshops with design teams, promoting a landscape led approach and nature-based solutions.

Requirements

• Chartered member of the landscape institute (CMLI).
• Excellent written communication with an eye for detail.
• Landscape design for BNG and experience (but not essential) in UGF calculations.
• Experience of understanding client requirements and developing scope and fee proposals.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.
• Excellent technical skills and proficiency in Autodesk, Bentley, Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGIS.
• Full UK Driving License.
• Postgraduate Diploma/master’s qualification in Landscape Architecture or recognised equivalent.
• Degree level qualification in Landscape Architecture or recognised equivalent.
• Established track record of successfully delivering landscape and urban design projects, from initial site analysis and concept design through to detailed design including the production of information for planning and construction.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary planning and design.
• Technical know-how, and experience of working with contractors and managing landscape design during the construction phase.
