Senior Internal Auditor

Description

• Conduct internal audits to evaluate adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of operations and controls.
• Develop audit programs, perform sample testing, analyze evidence, and identify root causes.
• Assess compliance with control standards, governance systems, and leading practices.
• Perform data mining, analyze controls, and investigate suspicious transactions.
• Document audit findings and recommendations, and present reports to audit committee and management.
• Evaluate IT risks, develop an internal audit system to track issues, and monitor remediation.
• Assist in IA methodology, risk assessments, annual audit plan, and staff training.
• Benchmark audit practices against leading organizations.

Requirements

The Senior Auditor reports to the Internal Audit Manager and is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting operational, regulatory and internal audits. The position requires strong interpersonal, analytical, and risk‑management skills, as well as a professional accounting designation, and involves the full audit cycle from pre‑planning to remediation monitoring.

The role requires 20‑25 % travel across Canada, the United States and Europe. Recruiting may use AI tools for candidate assessment, but all hiring decisions are made by the internal team.

• Possess 4‑5 years of operational and internal audit experience.
• Hold a university degree in accounting, finance, engineering or a related field.
• Maintain or be working toward a professional certification such as CIA or CPA.
• Demonstrate in‑depth knowledge of accounting, auditing principles, COSO framework and IIA standards (preferred).
• Exhibit strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently or collaboratively and meet project deadlines.
• Willingness to travel 20‑25 % internationally and domestically.

Benefits
