We are seeking a hands-on Electrical/Mechanical Technician to join our team. In this role, you will bring schematics and build packs to life, wiring, assembling, and commissioning industrial automation systems that perform reliably in the field. You’ll work across both electrical and mechanical tasks, collaborating with engineers and technicians to deliver high-quality, safe, and well-documented builds that meet project deadlines.
- Assembling mechanical enclosures, brackets, and machined parts; performing basic fabrication and fit-up.
- Maintaining a tidy, safe, and organised work area in compliance with Orica’s safety standards.
- Building and wiring control panels and junction boxes to drawings and standards (24 VDC, 230/415 VAC systems).
- Performing functional testing using appropriate test instruments.
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings and markup as-built documentation.
- Supporting commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities alongside engineers.

Candidates must be Australian (NZ or UK) Citizens or Permanent Residents with full working rights in Australia.
This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented technician who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, building innovative technology from prototype through to production.
- Proven experience in assembling, wiring, and commissioning automation or industrial systems.
- Current Class C driver’s license (required); Forklift license preferred.
- Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings accurately.
- Sound problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
- Strong attention to detail, and workmanship, with a commitment to quality and safety.
- Familiarity with wiring control systems, drives, and industrial sensors.
- Trade qualifications or equivalent experience in Electrotechnology, Electrical Fitting, or Mechanical Fitting.
