We engage in developing and designing innovative energy-efficient solutions tailored specifically to each client site, through examining and modelling their existing processes and equipment in order to identify and implement energy conservation measures. We dramatically reduce carbon emissions and bring the world closer to solving climate change.
As an Energy Subject Matter Expert (SME), you’ll be a senior technical leader within our Energy Solutions team, responsible for identifying, designing, and supporting the delivery of impactful energy and carbon reduction initiatives for large industrial and commercial clients.
You will work closely with both external customers and internal teams, acting as a trusted advisor to help define and deliver projects that create real, measurable value. Your expertise in utilities, heat recovery, and renewables will enable you to bridge the gap between data-driven insights and on-the-ground technical execution.
- Analyse process and utility data to identify opportunities for energy reduction, waste heat recovery, and renewable integration.
- (SME)Lead the technical assessment and development of energy efficiency and decarbonisation opportunities across client sites.
- Engage directly with clients to translate technical findings into actionable business insights and investment-ready opportunities.
- Contribute to the development of CoolPlanet’s best practices, tools, and methodologies for energy optimisation and sustainability.
- Serve as a trusted advisor for internal teams as they develop new offerings and approaches that maximise customer value.
- Work collaboratively with internal engineering, analytics, and project delivery teams — providing guidance, mentorship, and technical validation.
- Develop a deep understanding of a customer’s process with a view to identifying possible energy savings opportunities
- Collaborate with suppliers, OEMs, and contractors to ensure the successful delivery of high-performance energy projects.
- Assist in operationalising existing internal savings delivery workflows and increase the rate of savings delivery
- Support the design and implementation of solutions across boilers, HVAC, refrigeration, compressed air, CHP, and process heating systems.

You are an accomplished energy professional who combines deep technical understanding with strong communication and commercial awareness. You’re passionate about efficiency, innovation, and sustainability, and you thrive in environments where you can make a tangible impact.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing technical and non-technical audiences alike.
- Experience engaging with contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Minimum 12 to 15 years plus experience in energy engineering, utilities management, or sustainability consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse data sets and translate insights into actionable opportunities.
- Proven track record working with large energy users and multinational clients, ideally within manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, or food & beverage sectors.
- Strong technical expertise in utilities systems, heat recovery, and renewable energy integration.
- Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering (postgraduate qualifications or chartership desirable).
