You’ll be part of the team that keeps automation projects moving by partnering with system integrators and manufacturers to ensure flawless operation. Responsibilities include supporting data‑center startups, performing on‑site mechanical, electrical, and control checks, leading startup, checkout, and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems, and collaborating with automation and controls engineers to test, troubleshoot, and validate their systems on‑site. You’ll provide clear communication and updates to customers and project teams, and work on a rotating travel schedule such as 5‑on/2‑off, 10‑on/4‑off, or 14‑on/7‑off, gaining real‑world experience with large companies while being supported by the ProAutomated team.
For those who’d rather be on the move than behind a desk. We’re opening our 2026 hiring pipeline now for curious, adaptable problem‑solvers who love travel, hands‑on work, and being part of a team that actually knows your name. If you’re the kind of person who can laugh through flight delays, figure things out on the fly, and find satisfaction in solving complex problems, this might be your perfect fit.
We believe in transparency. Our four‑week paid training is designed to prepare technically skilled individuals for the field, and success requires a basic foundation in electrical systems, programming, and communication networking. If you’re new to these areas, this role may not yet be the right fit.
We seek candidates who love travel and are willing to be away from home on rotation, with a working knowledge of electrical systems, programming, and communication networking. Required traits include adaptability, grit, strong communication and problem‑solving skills, and the ability to live within 50 miles of a major airport (relocation assistance available) and have a personal vehicle within 45 days of employment. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S., hold a technical degree or equivalent 3+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering, and meet physical requirements such as walking long distances, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, and standing or kneeling for extended periods.
You’ll combine work and travel, experiencing new cities, tackling unique projects, and earning travel rewards while working directly with customers across North America, with no office to report to. Compensation starts at $60,000‑$75,000 depending on location, education, and experience, plus per‑diem, mileage reimbursement, utilization and weekend bonuses. We invest in your growth through paid training, annual merit raises, and a guaranteed 5 % salary increase after six months, while offering health, dental, life insurance, a matching 401(k), disability options, paid vacation and flexible time off after 18 months. Our people‑first culture values teamwork, adaptability and humor, and all leaders have risen from within the company.
