Description

The EHS professional will partner with plant management to drive a safety culture at the Greenfield, IN facility. Responsibilities include monitoring work and environmental conditions to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, enforcing company health, safety, and environmental guidelines, and providing workplace safety training. The role also requires ensuring compliance with all applicable air, water, and waste regulations.

• Oversee forklift and crane compliance and training program, maintaining certification, recertification, and daily inspection records.
• Ensure proper training of employees on safety and health requirements and policies to ensure compliance.
• Chair the Safety Committee and conduct monthly meetings.
• Observe plant activities, monitor for health and safety policy violations, and enforce use of PPE and safety procedures.
• Ensure regulatory safety compliance, implement required improvements, and recommend changes to safety policies and procedures.
• Administer new hire safety orientation for all new associates.
• Maintain OSHA logs and reporting.
• Monitor effectiveness of Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and update as needed per regulatory requirements.
• Manage and conduct quarterly safety audits of facility safety items, documenting inspections in the maintenance management system.
• Manage emergency medical treatment, reporting, and record keeping for injury‑inducing incidents.
• Investigate incidents and spills with local management, prepare and disseminate reports.
• Track incidents for management and issue summary reports.
• Identify potential causes for accidents with local management and recommend policy and procedure changes to prevent accidents.
• Act as liaison between corporate EHS management team and local facility management.
• Maintain all safety‑related documentation (meeting minutes, drill logs, certification records, training records, policies, etc.) and keep them audit‑ready.
• Assist in responding to OSHA or other regulatory agency requests and lead during inspections.
• Provide and administer weekly safety briefing topics and resources for plant supervisors; manage the Health and Safety Management System.
• Develop productive relationships with employees at all levels to foster positive safety behavior and culture.
• Oversee wastewater treatment plant operations, ensure compliance with effluent parameters, and prepare and submit wastewater Discharge Monitoring Reports.
• Ensure proper operation of air pollution control equipment, prepare and submit quarterly/semi‑annual monitoring reports, and annual Air Permit Compliance Certification; enter paint VOC/HAP information into AS400.
• Maintain and update SPCC/SWPPP.
• Prepare and submit Tier II, Hazardous Waste, TRI, and Annual Emissions Inventory reports.
• Manage hazardous waste: ensure containers are properly marked, labeled, dated; perform weekly 90‑day storage inspections; coordinate pick‑up and disposal; ensure manifests are accurate.
• Manage used oil and universal waste: ensure containers are properly labeled, closed, and dated.
• Perform opacity, stormwater, and SPCC inspections.
• Manage ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, write and update Environmental Operating Procedures, and conduct quarterly Environmental Management Committee meetings.
• Develop and communicate statistical trend analysis to management and coordinate action plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental management, manufacturing, engineering or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in workplace EHS management.
• Experience in health, safety, and environmental roles within manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Experience with coil coating, metals, and manufacturing (preferred).
• Knowledge of state and federal workplace safety guidelines.
• Familiarity with CAA, CWA, RCRA, and SPCC regulations.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Ability to read and interpret OSHA documents and internal policies.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
