Description

• Use appropriate tools to diagnose and perform major vehicle repairs, inspections, and preventive services.
• Operate compressed gas torch and make necessary adjustments.
• Conduct mechanical repairs and routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Document job details efficiently using computer skills.
• Identify names of visible and hidden vehicle parts.
• Maintain high safety, cleanliness, and efficiency standards.
• Ensure vehicles meet CHP/BIT/PM inspection requirements and keep related records (BIT inspections, DVIRs, work orders).
• Replace, install, and service brake systems, cab and sheet metal components, engine accessories, HVAC, hydraulic, and lighting electrical systems.
• Service mixer truck equipment, product transfer systems, starting, steering, transmission, wheels, hubs, and bearings.
• Replace, install, and troubleshoot electronic control systems and frame components.
• Service charging systems, clutches, drivelines, and suspension systems.
• Inspect and assess conditions of tractors, trailers, and mixers.
• Select and install appropriate tires within legal limits.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, gearbox, aftertreatment, advanced electrical, air brake, brake valve, hydraulic, and HVAC failures.
• Follow manufacturer service and troubleshooting procedures.
• Perform all assigned maintenance duties on diesel, plant, or yard equipment.
• Execute routine and preventive maintenance to keep vehicles and equipment compliant with DOT and company standards.

Requirements

As a valued member of our team, the Maintenance Truck Tech III is required to perform all duties of the level 1 and level 2 technician. In addition, the incumbent must demonstrate proficiency in one of the two major skill level categories and about 60% proficiency in the other. Category 1 covers internal repairs on engines, transmissions, and gearboxes, while Category 2 includes electronic control modules, sensors, complex electrical, and after‑treatment repairs.

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum 4 years heavy‑duty tractor maintenance experience.
• At least 4 years experience working on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Must provide own tools.
• Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5+ years heavy‑duty tractor maintenance experience preferred.
• 5+ years experience with electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems preferred.
• 3+ years welding experience preferred.

Benefits

$10,000 sign‑on bonus is available, subject to company policy and may be modified or withdrawn. Pay range for the Tech III position is $34‑$41 per hour. Travel is estimated at less than 25% of time.
