Financial Controller

Description

• Align accounting objectives with company vision and client service standards.
• Review all year-end budgets before submission to the Board for approval.
• Supervise and lead the Accounting Department, ensuring all deliverables and deadlines are met.
• Attend proposal and Board meetings as needed, particularly for high-value clients.
• Serve as the primary financial contact for Board members and clients when issues arise.
• Review the department, the responsibilities and restructure if and when needed.
• Review and submit monthly and quarterly performance metrics for the department.
• Ensure monthly financial reports are delivered to clients by the 15th of each month.
• Supervise the existing team to ensure deadlines for the department are met.
• Participate in webinars where we lean on our controller to educate our clients.
• Provide proactive and responsive communication to Boards and management.
• Conduct client trainings and deep dives on select accounts to provide insight and recommendations.
• Participate in occasional Board meetings for any special or complex matters.
• Manage financial transitions for new client onboarding.
• Participate in executive-level financial planning, projections, and strategy.
• Conduct weekly department meetings and quarterly performance reviews.
• Participate in executive meetings, sharing key insights and updates.
• Uphold transparency, consistency, and integrity in all financial communications.
• Hold regular meetings with the accounting team and set expectations.
• Oversee client bank accounts for FDIC compliance and accuracy.

Requirements

AppleOne is looking for a Financial Controller to lead the Accounting Department in Winnetka, CA! MUST have experience within Property Management and HOA.

• 5+ years of leadership experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Direct experience managing HOA or property management accounting required.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with executive leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a must).
• Be a people person and be available to key clients.
• Skilled in Vantaca, Strongroom, and other HOA accounting systems.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, and financial reporting.
