The Product Improvement Lead is responsible for leading product design improvement activities derived from field feedback, manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and retrieval. This role serves as the focal point for root‑cause analysis investigations and initiates corrective and preventive actions, supporting transformation through new processes, tools, risk management, value‑stream mapping, and LPPD behaviors. The Lead also drives one or more transformational projects.
As an individual contributor, the Lead acts as the technical point of contact for assigned work packages, mentors engineers and designers, collaborates with vendors, and ensures compliance with industry codes, TechnipFMC standards, and client specifications while delivering innovative solutions.
- Lead complex problem‑solving, define frameworks, tools, and drive investigations.
- Lead product improvement, standardization, and qualification projects.
- Define a simplified future‑state operating system for engineering management using LPPD and transformational thinking.
- Apply analytical and risk evaluation tools to identify root causes and implement countermeasures.
- Maintain a continuous‑improvement mindset, avoid firefighting, and consult experts as needed.
- Challenge the status quo, educate and inspire the team toward continuous improvement.
- Serve as technical point of contact for work package scope and related communications.
- Develop product design, geometry standards, and qualification requirements.
- Create, review, and approve part reports, drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Define product quality, material, welding, and NDE requirements.
- Support and manage project schedules and deliverables.
- Provide technical assistance and progress updates to management.
- Mentor and guide Product Improvement Engineers and Designers/Drafters; perform independent reviews.
- Provide technical assistance to vendors and build strong working relationships.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, TechnipFMC standards, and client specifications.
- Develop unique solutions for complex technical problems, including new product or system designs.
