Description

The Product Improvement Lead is responsible for leading product design improvement activities derived from field feedback, manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and retrieval. This role serves as the focal point for root‑cause analysis investigations and initiates corrective and preventive actions, supporting transformation through new processes, tools, risk management, value‑stream mapping, and LPPD behaviors. The Lead also drives one or more transformational projects.

As an individual contributor, the Lead acts as the technical point of contact for assigned work packages, mentors engineers and designers, collaborates with vendors, and ensures compliance with industry codes, TechnipFMC standards, and client specifications while delivering innovative solutions.

• Develop product design, geometry standards, and qualification requirements.
• Create, review, and approve part reports, drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Define product quality, material, welding, and NDE requirements.
• Support and manage project schedules and deliverables.
• Provide technical assistance and progress updates to management.
• Mentor and guide Product Improvement Engineers and Designers/Drafters; perform independent reviews.
• Provide technical assistance to vendors and build strong working relationships.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, TechnipFMC standards, and client specifications.
• Develop unique solutions for complex technical problems, including new product or system designs.

Requirements

• Demonstrate creativity and innovation in finding solutions and alternatives.
• Mechanical Engineer degree with at least 8 years of product design engineering experience, preferably upstream Oil & Gas.
• Experience supporting engineering for safety‑critical Oil & Gas projects with cost, quality, and delivery constraints.
• Product engineering experience with surface equipment such as wellheads, trees, valves, actuators, and chokes (preferred).
• Relevant background in heavy engineering, power plants, boilers, pressure vessels, or large‑bore valve engineering.
• Proven ability to review and approve designs, documents, calculations, and interpret FEA/structural analysis results.
• Strong knowledge of solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer; capable of stress, buckling, fatigue analyses.
• Familiarity with ASME, API, and NACE codes and standards for surface equipment design and manufacturing.
• Exposure to manufacturing processes including forging, extrusion, cladding, HIP, and induction bending.
• Experience with welding codes (ASME IX, API 1104) and NDE methods (UT, PAUT, PT, RT, MPI).
• Ability to work globally, elevate issues, and communicate directly with senior leadership.
• Project management skills to deliver within schedule and budget; organized with strong planning abilities.
• Accurate, dependable, and capable of prioritizing work for self and team.
• Proficient in designing complex engineering plans and reviewing system/product designs.
• Skilled in problem‑solving tools and continuous‑improvement techniques.
