Second Shift Maintenance Supervisor

Provides non‑hazardous solid & liquid waste management, soil remediation and recycling services across North America.
Review and approve expenses that are within approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to manager
Track issues and conduct Quality Control Inspections (QCI’s)
Plan and schedule repairs in M5 planner and procure all parts for successful plan.
Manage related administrative matters for team, including payroll, employee records, records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, recording of all information into Company maintenance software
Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with Company’s safety and compliance procedures and federal/state regulations; follow up where appropriate
Maintain knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment and vehicles used by Company, both on site and on the road
Assist in preparation and submittal of budget
Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity. Follow up on repairs being made, perform repairs as needed and appraise performance of shop personnel.
Assist with inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and part levels are maintained and purchases are within budget
Work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc.
Conduct daily shop huddles and fleet walks
Ensure the cleanliness of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs
Introduce departmental goals and performance objectives established by District and Corporate leadership
Employee is regularly required to talk, hear, listen, sit and stand
Conduct road test on equipment as necessary
Maintain open communication with other departments and leadership to ensure fluid and effective operations
Conduct and/or attend periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote morale, productivity, and efficiency
Oversee repair diagnostics on more complex matters
Supervise, coach, train, evaluate employee performance or behavior; provide input into hiring, disciplinary action, terminations, compensation, and promotion decisions
Update and submit required reports in a timely manner
Analyze the quality and effectiveness of the work performed

Continuous riding in a vehicle, walking, standing, sitting, climbing, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling
Ability to make simple and repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a step stool as necessary
Three (3) or more years of heavy diesel truck maintenance experience
Ability to drive a pickup or heavy truck, equipped with a 5-7 speed manual shift transmission or automatic transmission, climbing in and out of the truck cab
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Valid Driver’s License
High School diploma or GED
Ability to judge the distance between equipment and an object
Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds as needed and maintain steady work pace
Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
Full set of hand tools required.
Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspection, vehicle inspections.
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers

Microsoft Office experience

One (1) or more years of lead technician or supervisory experience

Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles

Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents
Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example: two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing
