Provide technical information concerning processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range engineering planning.
Determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
Define the process scope, including a basis of estimate (assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, exceptions, clarifications).
Act as Merrick’s representative to clients, regulatory agencies, and other external project stakeholders where appropriate.
Author proposal sections relevant to process design.
Review and check the work of other process engineers to determine accuracy and completeness. Reviews the work of other engineering disciplines to determine compliance with process requirements.
Process line sizing calculations
Confer with Technical Lead to clarify or resolve problems and develops design.
Analyze feed, product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine appropriate designs and processes.
Lead a team of process engineers to develop or directly prepare process design deliverables including:
Process Flow Diagrams
Equipment sizing calculations
Participate as the process representative in process hazard analysis (PHA) evaluations of the safety and operability of designs.
Develop process budget and schedule as part of the proposal process by analyzing the Request For Proposal (RFP) (or equivalent).

Knowledge of AutoCAD.
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program.
Experience with Aspen HYSYS and Aspen Plus.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier.
Professional Engineering license (PE) in Oklahoma or Colorado.
Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in refinery and/or hydrocarbons processing design and operations.
