The Design Drafter creates and maintains designs, layouts, drawings, and documentation as required. They develop and maintain uniform CAD standards, digital file repositories, and specifications to deliver satisfactory client services. The role also supports customer orders from proposal through design, development, testing, and field verification, and contributes to concept, planning, and detailing of building, grounds, facilities, and related infrastructure systems for facility planning, plant maintenance, and cross‑functional projects, supporting both new construction and modifications to existing facilities.
The technician is responsible for creating and maintaining standards, drawings, and specifications, and performs other activities as required by leadership. They prepare plans, drawings, models, specifications, quantity take‑offs, and other technical documents using computer‑aided design (CAD) software, and process preliminary design data for various stages of design document preparation. Collaboration with Facilities Management, project managers, vendors, designers, and cross‑functional business units ensures completion of design projects of varying complexity. Additional duties include preparing and maintaining event layout and site plans, utilizing existing CAD standards to update as‑built drawings, performing field measurements to validate conditions, recommending upgrades to procedures, and maintaining organized records in a standard drawing file system.
Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities is required, including climbing stairs, moving around shop machinery, and lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted. Travel between client buildings may also be necessary.

The offered compensation for this role ranges from $22.07 to $25.96 per hour, with the exact rate dependent on factors such as collective bargaining coverage, geographic area, market pay rates, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
