What you would be doing

You’ll take design responsibility from outline through detailed design, collaborating closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to deliver efficient, compliant and buildable solutions on key framework contracts.

  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams throughout design and delivery stages.
  • Produce and coordinate civil and drainage designs for clean water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and cost estimates in line with design standards and client requirements.
  • Undertake design checks, peer reviews, and assist with planning, programming, and commercial management.
  • Ensure design and site activities meet Health & Safety, quality, and environmental standards (ISO 9001 / 14001 / 19650).
  • Promote a positive, professional culture and uphold company values on all projects.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practice, attending relevant expos and CPD events.
  • Contribute to technical issue resolution and provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians.

If you’re a Civil Design Engineer ready to progress your career within water and utilities design, I’d love to have a confidential chat.

  • Confident with design software: InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit.
  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (Chartered or near-Chartered with ICE desirable).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to visit sites.
  • Strong regional reputation and a close-knit, collaborative team culture.
  • Strong understanding of drainage design, Sewer Sector Guidance, and Water Industry standards.
  • Collaborative communicator with leadership potential and mentoring ability.
  • Exposure to major framework projects in the water/utilities sector.
  • Knowledge of BIM integration advantageous.
  • Competent in hydraulic design principles and concrete slab/hardstanding design.
  • Proven experience in water, wastewater, or utilities design within UK infrastructure projects.
