Staff Mechanical Engineer - Water Systems Pump Specialist

Description

• Leadership & Mentorship: Teach and guide engineers in system design best practices.
• Technical Design & Analysis: Perform engineering calculations, develop system performance parameters, and create detailed design documents (P&IDs, mechanical layouts, specifications).
• Engage directly with clients across Florida.
• Client Engagement & Site Work: Conduct site visits for assessments and client interactions.
• Leverage technical expertise with leadership responsibilities by guiding design teams and mentoring early career professionals
• Contribute to projects related to Water and Wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and conveyance focused in Florida, as well as throughout the US.
• Collaboration & Coordination: Work with equipment manufacturers, other disciplines, and project stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
• Quality Assurance: Review submittals and ensure compliance with B&V standards.
• Work collaboratively with various design engineering execution teams across the US and abroad with an emphasis on work in Florida.
• Function as a Subject Matter Specialist for pumping systems related to the design of mechanical systems supporting Water & Wastewater Treatment processes.

Requirements

• Experience with identifying optimal pump sizing and selection for pump station facilities.
• Experience in material and component selection for pumping and piping systems.
• Approximately 15 percent travel.
• Strong candidates are expected to have knowledge and experience related to the design, specification, and related engineering tasks associated with pumping systems and plant hydraulics. Candidates that also have knowledge related to blowers and aeration systems, anaerobic digestion, heating water boilers, heat exchangers, and steel piping systems may also be beneficial.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with developing detailed design and technical specifications for pumps and piping systems.
• Experience with defining pump station operational control strategies/plans.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic principles.
• This position would require working in a typical office environment. The position may entail prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, and the professional would ideally be able to maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the workday. The position may also be require physical tasks during site visits, including crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods of time.
• Proven ability to communicate complex information effectively through written documentation and verbal presentations
