Role Summary: The Estimating Manager 2 will review and execute bids on multiple and/or more complex projects with specific focus on Electrical scopes. This position will be responsible for all aspects of the estimating and bid process, from review of plans and specifications to soliciting and negotiating prices from contractors and suppliers. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.
- Perform quantity survey of mechanical/electrical materials shown on project plans.
- Read and outline project specifications.
- Maintain audit trail of quantity survey from estimate to estimate.
- Support vendor/subcontractor pricing, bid solicitation, and coordination.
- Distribute plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.
- Collaborate with project team members, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
- Prepare complex mechanical/electrical cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals across multiple projects.
- Summarize material and other costs for vendor quotes.
- Review mechanical and electrical options during preconstruction and conduct systems analysis for select projects.
- Develop and coordinate electrical scopes of work throughout the bid process.
- Assist in bid analysis and provide input for subcontractor selection.
- Create sequencing requirements for systems and propose schedule‑driven solutions.
- Track and document value‑creation items from development through inclusion.
- Manage scopes of work, responsibility matrices, plan distribution, pricing, and bid solicitation for electrical and mechanical trades.
- Apply project schedule and logistics knowledge to estimate development.
- Collaborate with operations to perform constructability and coordination reviews.
- Deliver professional comprehensive deliverables for each major estimate.
- Lead mechanical/electrical coordination during bidding and solicitation.
- Produce constructability review reports for project teams.
- Represent mechanical/electrical expertise in job pursuit presentations.
- Prequalify subcontractors and develop bidder lists tailored to project requirements.
- Provide system analysis of building components and assist with logistics, staging, and phasing plans.
- Maintain client and subcontractor relationships and present estimates and proposals.
- Conduct feasibility studies on life‑cycle costs of building systems.
- Assemble, analyze, and maintain electrical cost history data.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members.
- Perform accurate, complete work in a timely manner.
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications; prepare quantity surveys.

The role requires accurate, timely work, strong verbal and written communication, effective presentation skills, and intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel. Candidates must read and understand drawings and specifications, be proficient in construction estimating software such as Accubid, Fast Duct, and Fast Pipe, and possess knowledge of construction management methods and field operations.
A bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered. Candidates need at least 5 years of estimating experience, with a preference for a total of 8+ years in construction and mission‑critical market experience.
The position requires a valid unrestricted driver’s license, the ability to lift up to 10 pounds, and may involve overnight travel and non‑traditional hours. JE Dunn offers a professional non‑union benefits package and is committed to equal opportunity employment.

- Possess 5+ years estimating experience, preferably 8+ years total construction experience and mission‑critical market exposure.
