We are currently seeking a Gas Engineer to join our busy team. In this exciting role you will be responsible for carrying out all types of repairs on heating and hot water systems to both tenanted and vacant properties in accordance with job tickets, opti‑time appointment slots, specifications, contract drawings, and applicable regulations. This includes adhering to good practice, building regulations, and safety standards to ensure high‑quality and compliant work. You will be covering the areas surrounding Sheffield, Doncaster, and Rotherham.
Key responsibilities include carrying out all repairs on heating and hot‑water systems according to job tickets, specifications and building regulations, and completing work with a “Right First Time” ethos, aiming to finish repairs in one visit with quality workmanship. You must keep accurate paper or electronic records, measure and quantify material requirements, and maintain high standards of customer care by protecting tenants’ belongings, cleaning up, and communicating politely. Prior to work you will perform appropriate risk assessments to protect health and safety of yourself, tenants, colleagues and the public. You are expected to diagnose problems efficiently, minimise material use and time, and as part of a larger technician team, multi‑skill on related gas jobs.
The role requires a full manual UK driving licence and ACS accreditations (CCN1, CENWAT1, CKR1, HTR1, DAH1, CPA1, UDHW) and a City and Guilds Craft Certificate in Gas Maintenance or equivalent (NVQ Level 3). You need experience as a qualified gas technician in building repairs, installation, fault finding and servicing of domestic gas appliances and central heating, as well as a strong record of completing multiple jobs in a single visit. You must understand health and safety legislation, deliver excellent customer service, and have strong literacy and numeracy to complete job tickets, timesheets and certificates accurately.
The successful candidate will receive a salary of £35,229‑£39,298 depending on experience, annual pay scale increases, 27 days holiday rising to 32 after five years, and bank holidays. Working hours total 37 per week, scheduled between 08:00‑19:30 across any five days Monday‑Saturday, with a typical week Monday‑Thursday 08:00‑16:00 and Friday 08:00‑15:30; you will also join a call‑out rota one week every eight weeks.
