The Foreperson plans, coordinates, and assigns daily crew work based on orders from the General Foreperson or Line Clearance Supervisor, conducts field training and retraining, and enforces safe work practices in line with company policy and OSHA standards. They interact with property owners and customers to obtain access permissions, discuss work scope, and address potential property damage, while promoting positive public relations. The role also maintains accurate crew records, controls costs, prepares detailed operational reports, and coordinates safety measures such as barriers, warning signs, and emergency hazard mitigation.
Candidates must understand utility drawings and symbols, possess strong communication and leadership skills, and be able to organize, multitask, and work independently without close supervision. Required qualifications include being at least 18 years old, having a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license (preferred), and the ability to safely operate a company vehicle, work at heights, lift up to 50 lb, and meet various physical demands such as climbing, crawling, and standing for extended periods. Employees must also pass pre‑employment drug screening, background, and motor‑vehicle checks, and adhere to safety protocols that involve exposure to energized power lines, loud equipment, and adverse weather conditions.
The Foreperson role is a full‑time, non‑exempt position that offers competitive hourly compensation and benefits that vary by location. The position reports to the General Foreperson and may be assigned additional duties as needed.
