The Production Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the plant’s Planning, Production, Shipping, and Maintenance departments to meet production objectives within budget while maintaining healthy labor relations.
The role requires collaboration with supervisors to set performance objectives, create and monitor master plans, ensure coordination across three shifts, and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, including problem‑solving committees, CAPEX projects, and health‑safety‑environment programs.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing methods (SMED, DMS, KPIs) across the plant.
- Set performance targets for Manufacturing, Shipping, Maintenance, and Planning supervisors.
- Develop and monitor master plans for production, shipping, maintenance, and yard operations.
- Coordinate supervision and teamwork across day, evening, and night shifts.
- Lead shift‑start meetings to align operational priorities.
- Coach supervisors and team leads to enhance management and performance skills.
- Ensure adherence to daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Head the Problem‑Solving Committee (PSP) to track actions and drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor key performance indicators, identify variances, and implement corrective measures.
- Oversee training, development, and cross‑training of operations personnel.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and standards while communicating with other departments.
- Participate in CAPEX deployment, health, safety, and environmental projects.

Candidates must hold a technical or university degree in engineering or industrial management, have 7–10 years of production‑management experience (preferably in steel or a unionized environment), be proficient in Lean Manufacturing, SAP, and Microsoft Office, and be bilingual in English and French.
- Technical/university degree in engineering, industrial management or related field.
- 7–10 years of production management experience, preferably in steel manufacturing.
- Proven leadership, organizational, problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution abilities.
- Experience working in a unionized environment (strong asset).
- Strong knowledge of Lean tools and industrial safety standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; SAP knowledge is a strong asset.
- Bilingual English‑French (spoken and written).
