Description

A wireperson is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical systems and components. They work with various types of wiring, cables, and connectors to ensure proper functioning of electrical equipment and systems. Wirepersons may read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints, and they often work closely with electricians and other technicians to complete projects. They must adhere to safety regulations and follow industry standards to ensure the integrity and reliability of electrical systems.

• Use hand tools (e.g., crimpers, strippers, torquing tools, calibrating tools) to perform tasks
• Run and bundle wires according to Powell wiring standards
• Layout, install, drill and tap devices onto doors and back pans
• Install name plates and space heaters
• Install and terminate CTs
• Operate continuity buzzers
• Terminate and run wire for MCC, SWGR, and harnesses according to wire diagram
• Promote a safety culture and attend all safety meetings
• Ensure work areas remain clean and well organized
• Perform in‑process inspections
• Read and use a tape measure
• Follow direction from Senior Assemblers and Lead Assemblers
• Challenge the status quo to find more efficient methods
• Represent customers as essential to current success and future growth
• Learn and adhere to manufacturing policies and ISO requirements
• Work in a safety‑sensitive, temperature‑controlled environment with occasional outside activities
• Use various ladders (step, A‑frame, extension) and scaffolding safely
• Work at heights up to 30 feet using proper lift equipment
• Maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falls while walking, standing, crouching, or climbing stairs
• Perform repetitive bending, extending, and reaching motions continuously
• Climb stairs frequently throughout the shift
• Apply force with upper extremities continuously up to 50 lb

Requirements

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Read and understand point‑to‑point wiring diagrams
• Basic command of written and verbal English
• Safely use a variety of hand/power tools
• Lift up to 50 lb using proper lifting techniques
• Basic computer knowledge considered an asset
• Knowledge of calibration
• Read and understand spec sheets and master copy drawings
• Demonstrate on‑time delivery and stay focused on goals
• Self‑starter capable of handling multiple tasks with drive to succeed
• Adapt to new ideas, technology, processes, or product changes
• Be conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable in job tasks
• Work effectively within the team and across departments
• Wear required PPE at all times, including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety harnesses as needed
• Stand or walk 50–300 ft distances for long periods with occasional sitting
• Look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders, and use full‑length arm motion frequently
• Frequent use of hand tools such as tin snips, hammers, and vibrating power tools for long periods
