Exciting opportunities for Critical Parts Lifing Engineer have arisen to influence and shape the future of the Defence business in India. The roles involve working with business and external stakeholders to support the delivery of key programme milestones thus enabling the delivery of our Defence Combat strategy.

  • Work as part of a multi discipline teams to ensure new designs are fit for purpose.
  • Apply appropriate tools and methods, ranging from hand calculations to analytical design space exploration/optimisation, with an emphasis on simplicity.
  • Perform analytical assessments (stress, lifing) to support new design concepts, and maintain support to in-service operations.
  • Define plans for analysis tasks; working with key stakeholders to ensure all work meets customer expectations and is completed to an agreed quality standard.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in tools, methods and processes and support capability team in development and deployment of enhanced capability.

Years of Experience: 3 to 15 years

  • Highly numerate with strong technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking.
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering. Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered.
  • Proficient in the use of 2D & 3D finite element stress analysis tools (e.g. SC03/ Abaqus/ ANSYS/ NASTRAN) – in elastic, inelastic, thermal-mechanical, contact and frictional assessments.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and will need to be able to contribute effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in Critical Part component lifing methods and analyses – e.g. LCF, HCF, damage tolerant/crack propagation (deterministic & probabilistic), corrosion, rotor integrity (disc burst, rim peel & blade release), or has keen interest in developing such skills at pace.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the methods and results of complex analyses to peers, senior colleagues and external organisations such as customers or regulatory bodies.
