Build an enviable reputation and the trust of employees, clients and other stakeholders
Develop HV single line diagram and protection single line diagram
Assist with site installation and commissioning
Develop technical specifications, e.g. HV switchgear, distribution transformer, battery charger etc.
Plan and conduct professional engineering works
Meeting with customer to resolve technical issues
Develop specifications and interface with management on design issues
Interface with other disciplines, like earthing and bonding, EMI, civil and structural
Deliver technical excellence and create efficient, innovative solutions
Provide detailed design of HV Substations and HV Reticulation Networks (up to 33kV) following relevant standards like IEC 62271 and AS 60076
Help create your Individual Development Plan and create significant opportunities for your professional development
Lead & manage a team of engineers & designers as mentor and/ or Team Leader
What you bring

Substation (indoor) layouts considering clearances as per Australian Standards, e.g. AS 2067
University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent)
Knowledge of the HV distribution design including relevant Australian and International standards and codes
Site experience/ experience in projects being constructed and commissioned
12+ years minimum relevant experience in HV substation and HV distribution network
Insulation Coordination and lightning protection following. Including familiarity of relevant standards, e.g. IEC 60071 and AS 1768
Skilled at or able to learn software packages independently, such as CYMCAP, DIgSILENT Power Factory etc., would be an added advantage
Ability to provide a safe, supportive and positive workplace
As part of the recruitment process, there are several checks which may be conducted to demonstrate an applicant’s suitability for a role including police / criminal background checks, medical, drug and alcohol testing, due diligence checks, right to work checks, and/or reference checks. It’s good to know that UGL does not discriminate based on a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
Chartered status including RPEQ, NER & CPEng is desirable.
Fundamental understanding of HV primary design
Solid understanding of the interface requirements of the civil/structural aspects of HV substations
HV cable design including cable detain and cable sizing (following IEC 60228 and IEC 60853)
Working knowledge on cable sizing software and HV modelling software.
Fair knowledge on fault calculation, power quality and harmonics
Through understanding of HV protection system
