The role involves the safe operation and maintenance of municipal facilities such as arenas, pools, community centres and surrounding parks. Responsibilities include equipment operation, minor repairs, preventative maintenance, janitorial duties, reporting, and record‑keeping.
- Operate and maintain arenas, pools, community centres, and park grounds safely.
- Perform minor equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and seasonal janitorial duties.
- Produce incident and operational reports; maintain logs and records of facility usage.
- Inspect, operate, and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, filtration, and grounds equipment.
- Operate ice‑resurfacing equipment and maintain ice surfaces.
- Repair and maintain wading/water parks and swimming pools.
- Set up and dismantle equipment and furnishings for permits, programs, and public events.
- Conduct pool and arena readings (chemical, temperature, pressure) and record results.
- Provide direction and training to other staff as needed.

Applicants must have experience operating similar facilities, possess a valid Ontario Class "G" driver’s licence, and meet the City’s equipment permit requirements. Physical capability to work in adverse weather, knowledge of OHS and WHMIS, and current First Aid certification are required.
- Demonstrated experience in safe and efficient operation of arenas, pools, and related equipment.
- Valid Ontario Class "G" driver’s licence and eligibility for City equipment operating permits.
- Ability to operate and maintain ice‑resurfacing and facility maintenance equipment.
- Physical ability to perform duties in all adverse weather conditions.
- Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and fire‑safety standards.
- Current Standard First Aid certification.
- Proficient with hand tools and minor mechanical repairs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication in English.
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and various locations.
- May hold Certified Pool Operator and/or Basic Refrigeration (Level 1) certificates.
Benefits
Job ID 59094 is a full‑time temporary position with an hourly rate of $30.69, scheduled for 40 hours per week and a variable shift pattern. The work location is to be determined within the City of Toronto, and the posting runs from 06‑Oct‑2025 to 21‑Oct‑2025.
