The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Associate is responsible for supporting and implementing workplace health, safety, and environmental programs at client sites. This role combines hands-on safety inspection and compliance activities with specialized support in Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring and regulatory documentation. The EHS Associate will engage with internal and external clients, assess potential hazards, maintain regulatory documentation, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the client’s safety management systems.
- Conduct workplace safety inspections following defined procedures, evaluating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, protective eyewear, and hardhats, in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Recommend and implement control measures and updates to SOPs, such as improvements to ventilation systems or engineered control systems (e.g., fume hoods).
- Conduct routine EHS training sessions such as new employee orientation, hazard communication, and fork truck operation.
- Respond to customer and internal requests for SDS information and documentation support.
- Assist in developing and updating environmental and occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Ensure accurate system classification and labeling information for materials.
- Communicate with client personnel regarding environmental health and safety concerns, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in safety inspections and examinations of machinery and equipment, including lifting devices, machine guards, and scaffolding.
- Review and update vendor MSDS/SDS and chemical hazard lists; ensure proper filing of updated or obsolete documents.
- Classify, author, and distribute Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in accordance with GHS (Globally Harmonized System) and OSHA Hazard Communication regulations.
- Identify and measure potential accident and health hazards (e.g., toxic vapors, mold, explosive gases) using calibrated scientific equipment or sample collection per standard operating procedures.
- Enter and maintain hazard assessment and regulatory data in product compliance and SDS authoring systems.
- Prepare detailed reports, including accident, ergonomic, and hazard assessment reports, ensuring compliance with OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
- Assist in accident and injury investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (including TOX, ECOTOX, and DG teams) to support regulatory and chemical compliance objectives.
- Perform process checks to ensure SDS are being filed, updated, and maintained accurately and on schedule.
- Support hazardous and regulated medical waste programs through handling, inspection, preparation of waste shipments, and maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain and update regulatory and compositional data from raw material suppliers, contract blenders, and internal business partners.

- Proficient in Excel and data management.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in EHS, chemical safety, or SDS authoring preferred.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable, team-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Active HAZWOPER 24 or 40 hour certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work overtime and flexible hours (Monday through Friday).
- Experience with SAP or SDS authoring systems highly desirable.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record screening, background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC).
- Ability to engage effectively with employees and clients at all levels.
- Familiarity with GHS and OSHA Hazard Communication standards required.
- Prior relevant industry experience
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without future sponsorship.

New Jersey Pay: $24 USD - $30 USD
Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.
