A Driver‑CDL (B) safely operates a collection truck, provides prompt and courteous waste removal services, ensures the vehicle meets the company's safety standards before each shift, follows all company, state and federal regulations, and completes daily vehicle condition reports to address any defects promptly.
The driver conducts thorough pre‑ and post‑operation inspections, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment and controls, and reports any issues. They follow the route sheet, drive the heavy truck to each customer and to the disposal site, operate manual or automatic controls to lift, load, compact and unload refuse, and tag unsatisfactory containers according to procedures.
Customer interaction is a key part of the role: the driver greets customers and dispatchers courteously, monitors waste for prohibited material, cleans accidental spills in accordance with safety policies, and keeps the vehicle clean to minimise downtime. Required documentation such as route productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports are completed accurately and on time.
The position requires adherence to productivity standards, all safety policies, participation in the ReSOP program, and the ability to perform any additional duties assigned. Drivers are expected to demonstrate strong customer service, time‑management, follow‑through, honesty, and pride in their work.
Minimum qualification is a Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver’s License with an air‑brake endorsement.
The hourly pay ranges from $22.40 to $30.80, varying by locality, and eligible employees may receive bonus compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
