Perform detailed traffic engineering computations, CAD layout and modeling using Civil3D and MicroStation. Evaluate traffic control devices or lighting systems to determine need for modification or expansion.
Inspect completed transportation projects to ensure safety or compliance with applicable standards or regulations.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and client agencies to deliver constructable, compliant, and timely transportation designs.
Serve as lead designer for Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans, traffic signal systems, roadway lighting, ITS infrastructure, signing layouts, and permanent pavement marking.
Provide oversight and mentorship to internal EIT-level designers.
Conduct field inspections and provide technical input on ITS deployment during construction.
Prepare project deliverables including plans, specifications, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates.

Position requires 25% travel to Design-Build project sites within Minnesota.
Requires Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, plus at least 2 years of experience (1) with MnDOT Design-Build transportation projects; (2) leading design efforts for maintenance of traffic, traffic signals, lighting, ITS, signing and pavement markings; (3) Civil3D and MicroStation design software; (4) MnDOT ITS field inspection and design coordination; (5) managing daily workloads of internal design staff or EIT engineers.
Position also requires 25% travel to Design-Build project sites within Minnesota.
Requires Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification; MnDOT Signal and Lighting Design certification.
